The Home Secretary overrode the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, citing the fact that 'skunk' is three times more potent than in 1995 and ignoring the other important statistic that cannabis use is down since decriminalisation, two years ago.
Obviously this doesn't interest the government as much as the lost revenue in fines and the boost to public disorder figures which will increase once police start issuing crime figures at the end of the year.
It should put paid to the insinuation that American and British law enforcement work together as a bill to decriminalise cannabis was set out by Congressman Barney Frank (D-Mass.), last month.

And topers beware: the assault on alcohol continues in London where Boris Johnson has banned the public consumption of 'the demon-drink'.

After hearing a junior government minister refer to 'passive drinking' in a similar context to smoking, don't be surprised if the ban becomes more widespread until you will have to drink behind closed doors...with the lights out...and are not allowed to buy more than a six-pack per week, one bottle of wine and will only be permitted one bottle of spirits per month - for our own good, of course.
After all, "a healthy nation is a happy nation."
